Yemen focus of Saudi Crown Prince, Biden security advisor talks


A senior administration official disclosed that President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, had a detailed discussion about the war in Yemen in Saudi Arabia.

He said that this came during a meeting between President Joe Biden’s national security advisor and the Saudi deputy prime minister and defense minister on Tuesday.

“In Saudi Arabia, Sullivan met with the crown prince, as well as Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khaled bin Salman, Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz ben Saud ben Nayef and National Guard Minister Prince Abdullah bin Bandar, ans others.”

“They had a detailed discussion about the Yemen conflict, and both sides supported the efforts of the new UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and agreed to intensify diplomatic efforts with all parties concerned,” the US official said. Special Envoy Linderking will remain in the region to pursue these detailed discussions.”

Sullivan is visiting Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates this week, accompanied by US Special Envoy to Yemen Tim Linderking and Biden’s Middle East envoy Brett McGurk.

Sheikh Mohammed ben Zayed Al Nahyane, crown prince of Abou Dabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces, received the US national security advisor, who is on a tour of a number of countries in the region.

The meeting, which was attended by National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnoun ben Zayed Al Nahyane, dealt with the strategic relations between the UAE and the United States and means of enhancing and developing them in various fields, in addition to developments in the region and joint work to support peace and stability there.

The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Hamdan Ben Mohammed Ben Zayed Al Nahyane, Sheikh Mohammed Ben Hamad Ben Tahnoun Al Nahyane, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abou Dabi Airports, Ali Bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme National Security Council, Yousef Mani Al Otaiba, State Ambassador to the United States, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazroui, Deputy Crown Prince of Abou Dabi, and the delegation accompanying the American official.
