The Emirates Red Crescent Authority has launched a humanitarian aid convoy destined for the residents of the Gaza Strip as part of its annual winter campaign, under the slogan “You are the Warm Hands.” This initiative expresses solidarity with Palestinian children and families affected by the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement published by the official WAM news agency, the authority announced that the convoy heading to Gaza includes approximately one million and 650 thousand pieces of winter clothing and blankets for warmth to face the harsh cold during the winter season, especially for those in camps lacking many essential life resources.
Mohammed Omar Al-Shamari, the head of the Emirates Red Crescent delegation in Gaza, stated that the campaign, part of “The Gallant Knight 3 Operation,” targets Gaza specifically this winter due to the ongoing war, causing humanitarian disasters and displacements of thousands of Palestinians. Many of them are left without shelter, particularly with a severe drop in temperatures. The aid program will be implemented in stages in coordination with humanitarian partners. The authority is making every effort to reach the beneficiaries in the Gaza Strip, providing them with necessities to cope with the cold and winter conditions, helping them face the difficult living circumstances.
Al-Shamari emphasized that coordination with the Egyptian government is underway to receive and deliver aid to the beneficiaries through the Rafah crossing.
The head of the Emirates Red Crescent delegation affirmed that the work continues around the clock in solidarity and support for the Palestinian people, considering it a humanitarian duty, in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, to provide urgent assistance to Palestinian brothers. The authority extends all forms of support to alleviate the humanitarian suffering resulting from the war in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Shamari explained that these aids and the quick response to the challenging humanitarian situations in Gaza reflect the UAE‘s historical and humanitarian commitment to supporting Palestinian brothers through a generous humanitarian journey, demonstrating the fraternal stance and steadfast approach of the UAE in supporting brothers in various circumstances.
The authority specified that a significant portion of the proceeds from the annual campaign “You are the Warm Hands” will be allocated to assist many children and families during the harsh winter, dedicating a section of the campaign for donations specifically for the people of Gaza.
