13 Coins Extracted from a Child’s Stomach in Egypt


A specialized medical team at the University Pediatric Hospital of Mansoura University, Egypt, successfully removed 13 coins from the stomach of a 15-year-old child who had been suffering from severe pain and difficulty swallowing.

The child was admitted to the hospital complaining of sharp pain, and radiological tests revealed the presence of coins in the esophagus, prompting urgent medical intervention.

Under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Az, head of the Gastroenterology Unit at the hospital, an endoscopic procedure was carried out, during which the medical team successfully extracted all the coins without any complications.

The child was placed under medical observation until his condition stabilized and was discharged from the hospital after being fully recovered.
