3 killed and 10 injured in Arkansas shooting

Police said a gunman opened fire in a retail store in the U.S. state of Arkansas on Friday, killing three civilians and injuring 10 others, including two security personnel.

Mike Hagar, the state’s police chief, told reporters that the suspect was also injured in an exchange of gunfire with the police.

The incident occurred at the “Mad Butcher” grocery store in Fordyce, a small town with a population of 3,200 people.

Hagar said, “Unfortunately, we can confirm that 11 innocent civilians were shot, three of whom died. Two law enforcement officers were injured in the exchange of fire.”

He added, “The suspect was shot and taken into custody, and the injured officers and the suspect are expected to survive.”

He noted that the injuries among the civilians ranged from “non-life-threatening to very serious,” as he described.
