After the Qena Oil Port Attack, Yemen Demands to Classify Houthi as Terrorist
The Yemeni government said on Thursday that the Houthi attack on the commercial port of Qena in Shabwah reflects the aggressiveness of militias and their violation of international calls to stop the escalation.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Yemeni government warned of the repercussions of the Houthi terrorist attacks on the deterioration of the humanitarian and economic situation of Yemeni citizens. The Houthi terrorist militia blamed the repercussions.
“The Houthi militias committed another terrorist attack using drones targeting Qena commercial port in Shabwah province in a continuation of their terrorist operations and targeting civilian facilities,” the statement said.
The terrorist attack reflects the aggressive nature of these terrorist militias, in clear contravention of all international calls to stop the escalation and to stop targeting the infrastructure and economic capabilities of the Yemeni people, he said, adding that these terrorist militias are committing these crimes in the service of the agenda of the Iranian regime and to destabilize international peace and security.
The Yemeni government called on all countries to take strict measures to classify the rogue Houthi militias as a terrorist organization to prevent the repetition of such attacks and to dry up the sources of funding for them in a way that preserves stability and security in the region and the world.
“On Wednesday, a Houthi drone targeted the commercial and oil port of Qena, located in Rudum District in Shabwah Province, southern Yemen, while docking an oil derivatives ship.”
Houthi militias previously attacked the Hana and Tag Bot Pleo Water ships at the port of Rudum in Shabwah on 18 and 19 October without causing any human or material damage.
The port of al-Dabba in neighboring Hadramawt province was also attacked by Houthis with two planes loaded with explosives when an oil ship docked, drawing condemnation from Yemen, the region, the UN and the international community as a serious military escalation.
