Qatar agrees to open temporary diplomatic office for Israel

In a first for its kind, Qatar has decided to open a diplomatic office for Israel, during the 2022 World Cup soccer tournament in Doha in the coming weeks.

Israeli media reported that Tel Aviv reached an agreement with Qatar on the opening of an interim diplomatic office, which is expected to be officially signed in the coming days.

According to the same sources, this unique agreement comes in the wake of serious negotiations between the Gulf state, which hosts World Cup events, and Israel.

The same sources noted that the State of Iran has worked to thwart communication and agreement between the two countries, especially that Israel had announced the possibility of its nationals to attend the World Cup despite the absence of diplomatic relations with Qatar, as it believed that this step “will open a new door”.

If this agreement is signed, the Israeli diplomatic authorities will endeavor to come to Qatar to provide consular services to Israeli citizens wishing to visit Doha and follow the games.

The Israeli authorities expect that more than 30,000 football fans will attend the World Cup matches organized by Qatar and brought to attention.

Qatar has no diplomatic ties with Israel, but opening the door with the World Cup would pave the way for relations between the two countries.
