Caraway water: A Drink That Supports Weight Loss
You already know that water is the best drink on the planet to be healthy and also to lose weight, and one of the ways water promotes weight loss is: it eliminates the feeling of appetite which is sometimes nothing more than a need for hydration.
But is there a way to lose weight faster by drinking water? Yeah, and we’re not talking about the classic green tea whose draining properties have been established by several studies, but of a drink which is prepared using the caraway seeds. This spice is rich in antioxidants which can improve the immune system and gut health, reduce inflammation and lower the risk of cancer.
Cumin as a fat burner
Cumin has been studied for its benefits in fat loss and has been shown to increase metabolic rate in people who have experienced this weight loss; thus, a faster metabolism means the body burns calories at a higher rate.
In a clinical study involving 88 obese women, an experimental group consumed yoghurt with added cumin at two meals a day for three months. In contrast, the control group ate the same amount of yogurt but without the addition of cumin powder for the same period. It was found that only women who consumed cumin significantly reduced their weight, body mass index, waist circumference and fat mass. They also benefited from lowering blood levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL (bad cholesterol), while increasing good cholesterol, i.e. HDL.
The researchers pointed out that caraway water helps regulate blood sugar levels helping cells respond properly to glucose and insulin. When blood sugar is high, cells can store more glucose than needed and this can be turned into fat.
How to make caraway water
caraway water, also called jeera water, can be eaten hot or cold, Here’s how to make it at home:
soak a tablespoon of caraway seeds in a cup or two of water overnight (you can also crush the seeds with a rolling pin to release their natural oils).
boil the mixture for about five minutes
once the water has cooled, strain the seeds and pour it over ice cubes to enjoy it cold or heat it to the temperature of your choice.
Caraway water has a very mineral and woody taste, so it is advisable to add a little natural sweetener like honey, or a pinch of cinnamon to improve flavor
