A danger threatening men… Tips to get rid of visceral fat

A recent study has warned of the harmful effects of accumulated visceral fat in the abdominal area on human health and its association with heart and vascular diseases.

The study mentioned that one of the most dangerous types of fat, visceral fat, is stored in the abdominal cavity and around vital organs such as the pancreas, intestines, and liver.

The study also pointed out that with advancing age, especially among men, physical activity decreases, metabolism declines, and testosterone levels decrease, leading to a reduction in muscle mass.

This makes it more challenging to burn calories, and many men often consume more calories than they need daily, resulting in the accumulation of more fat in the body.

Visceral Fat

On the other hand, Amira Nassar, a therapeutic nutrition specialist, warned of an increase in the percentage of visceral fat in the body due to its association with some heart and vascular diseases, providing a set of tips to get rid of it.

She said, “Visceral fat that accumulates in the abdominal area is closely related to heart and vascular diseases. If the body mass index is normal and the waist circumference is high, this is considered an indicator of a problem and increases the risk of heart diseases.”

She added, “There are two body shapes, the first one resembles an apple and indicates fat accumulation in the waist and abdomen, and the second type resembles a pear and indicates fat accumulation in the hips. The more dangerous type is the apple shape, whether in men or women.”

She pointed out several factors that affect the accumulation of fat in the waist area, including genetic factors. She said, “Some people have prominent buttocks, and genes play a role in determining shape.” Also, lack of exercise and low physical activity contribute to the accumulation of fat in the waist area.

She added, “Increasing the body mass index associated with obesity and the accumulation of fat in the abdominal area, bad eating habits, and unhealthy eating, all contribute to the accumulation of fat in the waist. Delaying the main meal and sleeping immediately after it also play a role.”

The therapeutic nutrition specialist emphasized the importance of having a light meal at dinner, at least two hours before going to sleep, and warned against excessive consumption of fried and trans fats, as well as vegetable fats. She concluded by emphasizing the need to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
