Hemp, a herb with many virtues

From the seed to the stem, this millennial herb with multiple uses is now reclaiming all its letters of nobility.

Its geographical origin is uncertain, but archeological traces trace its domestication by man in Asia, to the Neolithic (about – 5,000 BC). Its psychotropic properties have been known to Egyptians since ancient times. In France, cultivated for food, pharmacopeia and clothing, the plant reached its peak in the 17th century for the manufacture of rope for boats, as can be seen again in the long building of the Royal rope factory in Rochefort built in 1666. Once abandoned, its cultivation has recently experienced a real revival thanks to its seed rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

The power of hemp

Otherwise called Cannabis Sativa, hemp suffers from the bad reputation of some of its varieties with psychotropic actions, such as cannabis Indica (the “marijuana” for the intimate). Yet its agronomic properties, non-water-hungry, provide a sustainable solution for a healthy and responsible diet of tomorrow. Considered as a “superfood”, its seed rich in proteins, in “good” fatty acids (omega 3, 6, and 9), contains a large amount of vitamins, minerals and fibers with antioxidant properties beneficial for health. CBD (cannabidiol) in it would help combat the negative effects of stress.

The little seed that rises

It is very fashionable and is found on the market, available in infusion, essential oil, massage oil and even chewing gum and liquid for electronic cigarettes. In the kitchen, too, he’s making a tobacco. The highly nutritious seed is bought in organic stores, whole, peeled or toasted, and can be eaten in porridge, with a yogurt, on a salad or granola… The goal is here again, to relax. It is also believed to have benefits against thyroid disorders and osteoporosis.
