Helicopter Crashes into Hotel Roof in Tourist City in Australia

Authorities in Queensland, Australia, have announced the evacuation of hundreds of guests from a hotel in the tourist city of Cairns after a helicopter crashed into the hotel’s roof.

Media reports indicated that emergency crews were called after the incident at the “DoubleTree” hotel, part of the “Hilton” hotel chain, in North Cairns, which is considered the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

In a statement, Queensland Police said: “The building was evacuated as a precaution, and no one on the ground was injured. Police are on the scene to investigate the circumstances.”

The police did not specify the condition of the helicopter’s pilot or whether there were passengers on board, but a video posted on social media showed a fire on the hotel’s roof.

Australian media reports mentioned that two of the helicopter’s rotor blades detached, with one landing in the hotel’s swimming pool.
