Netanyahu Sets His Goals after the War: Expanding Peace and a “Hidden Plan” for Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outlined several objectives he aims to achieve once the current war is over.

On Monday, Netanyahu delivered a speech to the Israeli Knesset, discussing Israel’s attack on Iran, negotiations on a prisoner exchange deal, and his plans to expand the “Abraham Accords.”

He stated, “Once Hamas’s control over Gaza ends and Hezbollah pulls back from the border, I will seek to continue the Abraham Accords process with other countries,” adding, “I aspire to establish peace with other Arab nations.”

Netanyahu criticized Iran, accusing it of “building a stockpile of nuclear bombs to destroy Israel,” and pledged to counter Iran’s plans and prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons. He added, “But I cannot reveal my plan.”

He mentioned that the Israeli attack on Iran, conducted early Saturday, “targeted Iranian defense systems and missile infrastructure, causing significant damage to these systems.” He added, “I thank our American friends, but we determine our targets ourselves according to our own considerations.”

Israeli news site i24 reported Netanyahu’s comments on the Egyptian initiative regarding hostages: “I saw in the media an Egyptian offer of four hostages in exchange for a 48-hour ceasefire. If such an offer existed, I would accept it immediately, but there is no such offer.” He added, “We are constantly working to bring the hostages home, and we will bring back those we can.”

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, during a joint press conference with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Sunday, stated that an initiative was proposed involving a two-day ceasefire in exchange for the release of four Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.

He continued, “During the 10-day truce, discussions would proceed to complete measures in the region, leading to a full ceasefire and the entry of humanitarian aid to our brothers in the region, who are under a severe blockade, nearing starvation.”
