Amid Peace Efforts… Kim Praises North Korean Soldiers in the Ukraine War

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un praised his country’s soldiers as “heroes” for fighting alongside Russia in the war against Ukraine.

This comes as U.S. President Donald Trump is making intensive efforts to find a solution to the Ukraine crisis and to end the conflict that has been ongoing since February 2022.

According to North Korea’s state news agency, Kim expressed during a meeting with foreign operations officers of the armed forces his “deep appreciation for their achievements in leading our military’s combat units, securing victory, and taking part in the liberation operations of the Kursk region in the Russian Federation.”

North Korea has dispatched more than 10,000 soldiers to support Russia’s war in Ukraine, and an assessment by South Korean intelligence concluded that Pyongyang is planning to send additional troops.

In June of last year, Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a strategic partnership treaty, which includes a mutual defense agreement.
