James Bond faces coronavirus in movie theaters
A long excerpt from the new James Bond film, which was shown Tuesday at the Las Vegas Cinema Festival, has aroused the enthusiasm of industry specialists who are looking for recipes to revive cinema and cinemas that have been badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
The 9-minute clip from “No Time to Die,” the last movie to feature the secret agent’s character, James Bond, is regaining consciousness after an explosion in a picturesque Italian village, before embarking on a series of car and motorcycle chases.
The story resumes after Specter, a film released at the end of 2015 that casts doubt on the sincerity of Bond’s girlfriend, Madeleine Swann, played by Lea Sedo.
The 25 film in the James Bond series has faced repeated delays due to the pandemic and will be screened in London on September 28, playing a crucial role in getting viewers back into the movie theater.
Director of MGM Studios Michael De Luca said: “We know the wait is long, but it was important for us to release this film at a time when the fans of this series can see James Bond the way it should be: On the big screen.”
He did not address Amazon’s acquisition of MGM studios.
The two main producers of “James Bond”, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, confirmed that future films from the series will be screened in movie theaters.
