The Taliban define its rule.. The application of sharia law and positive laws


The Taliban say it have announced a caretaker government to take control of the situation and run the country’s executive affairs.

In a statement on Wednesday, it added that the members of the new government that will be inaugurated soon will do its best to apply the sharia laws and laws in the country.

The statement, which outlines the Taliban’s vision of governance, said the group wants “positive and strong relations with our neighbors and all countries of the world, based on the principle of mutual respect and good treatment”.

The Taliban’s relations with countries “will be based on the realization of Afghanistan’s supreme interests, and will abide by all those international laws, resolutions and conventions that are not contrary to Islamic law and do not contradict our national values,” the statement said. “We also want the countries of the world to have constructive and strong relations, good political and diplomatic ties with us, and to cooperate with us.”

Regarding human rights violations by the Taliban during their previous rule (1996-2001), the statement said: “The Islamic Emirate will take serious and influential steps with regard to human rights, minority rights and the rights of disadvantaged communities… so that all Afghans (without exception) are entitled to live in their country in security, peace and dignity”.

The Taliban pledged to strengthen, grow, expand and prosper the Afghan economy, create special opportunities for trade in various fields, open the door to international investment, fight unemployment and work for the country’s self-sufficiency as soon as possible.

In the area of media freedom, the statement stressed that “newspapers and media are an important element in society, and therefore we will work to improve their independence and effectiveness. It is also the responsibility of the media to take into account in their publications the legitimate controls and national and impartial interests.”

“The land of Afghanistan will not be used against the security of any country,” the statement said in a message to neighbors, countries in the region and the world. “We reassure everyone that they do not feel any concern or fear for Afghanistan, and we ask them to be treated in kind.”

In this context, the statement stressed that “all foreign diplomats, embassies, consulates, relief institutions and investors are assured that they will not face any problem, and the Islamic Emirate will do its best to ensure their security, safety and presence of the necessities of our country, so they must continue their work in safety and tranquility.”

On Tuesday, the Taliban announced the formation of a caretaker, not permanent, government.

The new government is headed by Mohamed Hassan Akhund, a former political adviser to the movement’s founder Mollah Omar.

This Government also includes many of those, some of whom were influential in the Taliban regime during the 1990s.
