Eric Scott, spokesperson for the fire department, stated in a post on the X platform that a mudslide had swept away a fire truck, causing it to plunge into the ocean in Malibu, west of Los Angeles.
He added that the driver survived and was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Parts of Los Angeles remained under evacuation orders until Friday noon, including the Pacific Palisades neighborhood on the city’s western edge, which had been severely affected by wildfires in January.
