Al-Kazimi: Rocket attacks on Iraqi camps are absurd

Iraqi Prime Minister Moustafa al-Kazimi said that the rocket attacks on Iraqi camps are “absurd acts that undermine security and stability”.

During a session of the Iraqi government held in Nadjaf province, al-Kazimi added: “Unfortunately, there are some absurd acts”, he said. In the early days of the New Year, several rockets were launched targeting Iraqi camps, and this will certainly disrupt security and stability.

He added: “We reaffirm the end of the combat role of US and international coalition forces in Iraq. All the camps were taken over by Iraqi forces, and there are now a number of advisors working alongside our security forces”.

Two days ago, Iraq witnessed several attacks on Ain Al-Assad and Victoria bases, which coincided with the commemoration of the second anniversary of the death of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Al-Quds Force, and Abou Mehdi al-Mouhandis, deputy head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, in a US air strike on the road to Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
