The Government of National Accord announced in Tripoli, Libya,
the cessation of all military operations in many parts of the country,
calling for the holding of presidential and parliamentary elections next March
The chief of the Libyan Parliament, Aguila Saleh, also called for a ceasefire
The declaration was received with a favorable opinion internationally, in the hope that the two steps would help to restore the stability of the country
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi welcomed the ceasefire,
saying that it was an important step in reaching a political settlement and restoring stability.
The League of Arab States also welcomed this step by expressing its hope that it will contribute to the early completion of the negotiations
which are ongoing between the Government of National Accord and the Libyan National Army
The United Nations strongly welcomed the points of agreement between the House of Representatives and the Al-Wefaq government
Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia also welcomed the statement.
The US, Canada, Italy and Russia also welcomed the statement,
which demands that Sirte and Al-Jufrah be demilitarized
