Amid Famine and Siege, Emirati Convoy Offers a Lifeline to Gaza

The Director General of Hospitals at Gaza’s Ministry of Health praised the humanitarian role of the United Arab Emirates and its repeated delivery of medical convoys, describing it as genuine solidarity with the population under the harshest of circumstances.
On Saturday, the Emirati news agency announced the arrival of a medical convoy in the besieged Gaza Strip, a territory ravaged by war, famine, and the collapse of most of its hospitals. With acute shortages of medical supplies and drugs, and a health system on the brink of total collapse, Abu Dhabi once again reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to stand by the Palestinian people in times of extreme distress.
This initiative is part of the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s civilians, trapped in catastrophic conditions caused by the relentless war. Emirati medical and relief teams are providing emergency healthcare, delivering essential medicines and supplies, while field hospitals face unprecedented strain due to the influx of wounded and the severe shortage of medical staff.
The operation reflects the Gulf state’s consistent commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, particularly during humanitarian crises requiring urgent and comprehensive responses. Within the framework of “Gallant Knight 3,” the convoy, named “Life and Hope 2,” was deployed to strengthen Gaza’s hospitals and sustain their capacity to provide care.
The details were shared during a press conference at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. Dr. Abdulrahman Hamad Al-Aryani, director of the Emirati field hospital, explained that the facility continues to provide medical assistance to support Gaza’s struggling health sector. He noted that the convoy included “large quantities of diverse medicines and medical supplies aimed at alleviating the suffering of Palestinians and reinforcing the resilience of the health sector under extremely difficult conditions.”
Dr. Mohamed Zaqout, Director General of Gaza’s hospitals, expressed deep appreciation for the Emirati support. He emphasized that the arrival of these medical supplies represents “a critical addition to the services provided to patients and the wounded, embodying genuine solidarity with Gaza’s population in one of its darkest hours.”
This delivery forms part of a series of humanitarian convoys continuously dispatched by the UAE under “Gallant Knight 3,” a humanitarian campaign launched on November 5, 2023, under the directives of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, with the aim of sending food and medical aid to the most affected areas of Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has been enduring an Israeli war supported by the United States, marked by killings, starvation, mass displacement, and large-scale destruction. According to recent Palestinian figures, the war has caused 62,622 deaths, 157,673 injuries, over 9,000 missing persons, hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine that has already claimed 281 lives, including 114 children.
