Billions in corruption… The Muslim Brotherhood continues to manufacture crises in Taiz

Yemeni sources have accused the leadership of the Taiz military axis, which is under the control of the Muslim Brotherhood, of deliberately instigating a new crisis in household gas supplies by imposing illegal levies on gas transport trucks, leading to a sharp increase in prices.

According to sources cited by Al-Muntasaf Net, the price of a gas cylinder suddenly surged from 10,000 to 13,000 Yemeni rials, without any official justification. Accusations suggest that the price difference is being funneled into private accounts linked to military leaders within the Brotherhood-controlled command, with revenues from these levies estimated in the billions of rials.

The sources added that this is not the first time the Taiz military axis has been implicated in the creation of livelihood crises, accusing its leadership of pursuing a deliberate policy of profiteering at the expense of civilians, while the government and Presidential Leadership Council remain silent, failing to take any action to dismiss or hold the perpetrators accountable.

Since taking de facto control of security and military decision-making in Taiz, the Al-Islah party has played a major role in complicating the situation on the ground and worsening living conditions in the governorate, managing the scene to serve its organizational agenda rather than the needs of the population.

The party has caused multiple crises—from water shortages to electricity, and now gas—alongside alleged involvement in numerous corruption scandals and arms trafficking.
