Caribbean Islands Brace for “Dangerous” Hurricane Beryl
Hurricane Beryl, the first of the Atlantic season, has intensified into a “highly dangerous” Category 3 storm, threatening the southeastern Caribbean with winds exceeding 180 kilometers per hour, according to U.S. meteorologists.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center stated that Hurricane Beryl, currently moving in the Atlantic Ocean about 675 kilometers east of Barbados, “continues to rapidly intensify on Sunday morning.” It added: “This storm is now a highly dangerous Category 3 hurricane,” predicting that the eye of the storm will move early Monday towards the Windward Islands, which include Martinique, Saint Lucia, and Grenada.
