Buscemi, aged 66, was taken to Bellevue Hospital after sustaining injuries to his left eye and face, with the police confirming that the assailant fled the scene and investigations are ongoing to apprehend him.

Buscemi’s agent told the New York Post, “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in the center of Manhattan, becoming a new victim of random violence in the city.”

“He is doing well, and we appreciate everyone’s support despite the shock of the incident that occurred while he was walking the streets of New York.”

According to the police, the attack occurred on Wednesday, May 8, at 11:48 a.m., with a worker in the area witnessing part of the incident, stating: “I saw Buscemi stumble and fall backward while with a woman, then I saw him get up from the ground without seeing the assailant.”
