Fifteen U.S. soldiers injured in an Iranian attack on a base in Kuwait
A U.S. official confirmed that the attack on Ali Al Salem Air Base was carried out using a drone, stressing that some of the injured personnel returned to duty after receiving treatment.
CBS News reported that 15 U.S. soldiers were wounded as a result of an Iranian drone attack on Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. Around 13 soldiers were reportedly killed and hundreds across the Gulf sustained various injuries due to Iranian attacks since the outbreak of the war, with many of them killed or wounded in Kuwait.
The network quoted a U.S. official who declined to be named as saying that the attack on the air base took place the previous night, adding that it resulted in 15 wounded soldiers, some of whom resumed their duties after completing treatment. Several American pilots were also killed or injured at the beginning of the war by ground-based air defense fire in Kuwait, in what is known as friendly fire.
In addition to Kuwait, three Gulf countries were subjected to aerial attacks, while missile fragments fell near energy facilities in Saudi Arabia at dawn on Tuesday, as the Israeli-American war against Iran entered its 39th day.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense said in a statement that it intercepted and destroyed seven ballistic missiles launched toward the country’s Eastern Province, adding that “parts of the missile debris fell in the vicinity of energy facilities and damage assessment is underway.” Earlier, the ministry had announced the interception and destruction of four ballistic missiles in the Eastern Province.
Riyadh also announced at dawn on Tuesday the suspension of vehicle traffic on the King Fahd Causeway linking Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
This was stated in a release by the King Fahd Causeway Authority, which said that the suspension was “precautionary” following “alerts issued by the National Early Warning Platform in the Eastern Province (where the causeway is located) during the past hours.”
In Bahrain, the Ministry of Interior announced in two statements that warning sirens sounded twice since dawn on Tuesday, at 00:28 and 04:14 local time (UTC-3).
The ministry urged citizens and residents to head to the nearest safe location without providing further details. The sounding of sirens is usually associated with the detection of attacks.
In the same context, the UAE Ministry of Defense announced that its air defenses responded to missile and drone attacks originating from Iran.
The ministry said in a statement that “the sounds heard in various parts of the country are the result of the UAE air defense systems engaging ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.”
Since February 28, Israel and the United States have been waging a war against Iran that has resulted in thousands of Iranian casualties, while Tehran has responded by launching missiles and drones toward Israel.
Iran also targets what it describes as “U.S. interests” in Arab countries, causing deaths, injuries, and damage to civilian property, actions that have been condemned by the affected states.
