Hypersonic Missiles and Strikes on Nuclear Facilities: Day Six Between Iran and Israel

Another day of continued escalation between Israel and Iran, with intensified mutual strikes and signs of a qualitative shift in the types of weapons and targets involved.

Israel announced that its aircraft had struck a site for the production of centrifuges and several military manufacturing facilities overnight, on the sixth day of an unprecedented confrontation between the two arch-rivals.

Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated on his X account (formerly Twitter) that “more than 50 Israeli Air Force fighter jets launched a series of airstrikes over the past hours targeting military sites in Iran.”

He added: “As part of our extensive efforts to strike Iran’s nuclear weapons development project, we targeted a centrifuge production site in Tehran designed to help the Iranian regime increase the volume and pace of uranium enrichment to produce nuclear weapons.”

According to the spokesperson, several weapons manufacturing facilities were also targeted, including a site for producing raw materials and technical documents for surface-to-surface missiles, as well as sites for producing equipment and documents for surface-to-air missiles intended to target aircraft.

Iran: Missiles Faster Than Sound

In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard confirmed in a statement broadcast by state television that it used Fattah-1 hypersonic missiles during “the eleventh wave of Operation True Promise 3.”

The statement claimed “complete control over Israeli airspace” had been achieved.

Trump Issues Threat

This escalation came just hours after former U.S. President Donald Trump called on Tehran to “unconditionally surrender.”

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump asserted that the United States “could easily kill” Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, as speculation grows about a potential U.S. involvement on Israel’s side in the conflict, which began last Friday with the stated aim of “preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.”
