Indian Commits Suicide After Losing $25
A young Indian man committed suicide after losing 2000 rupees in a scam, equivalent to $25.
According to “The Times of India,” the young man ended his life in the city of Nala Sopara last Wednesday, hours after falling victim to an online scam.
The 18-year-old was playing with his mother’s phone when he accidentally clicked on a fraudulent link that emptied all the money from his mother’s bank account.
The young man panicked when he received a message indicating the withdrawal of the amount, prompting him to ingest pesticide at his family’s home and die immediately.
Police confirmed that they could have recovered the lost money within 24 hours if the young man hadn’t rushed to commit suicide and had informed them instead.
They also noted that the mother was unaware of the text message received from the bank regarding the cash withdrawal.
