Italy Seizes Cocaine worth $132 Million

The Italian police have seized 788 kilograms of cocaine, hidden inside bags containing granules, in the engine compartment of a refrigerated container, according to the Italian news agency ANSA.

The financial crime unit at the Gioia Tauro port, in the southern region of Calabria, discovered the drugs, which have an estimated market value of approximately €126 million ($132 million).
The cocaine was divided into small packages: some were concealed inside hundreds of granule bags, while others were carefully hidden in a cavity within the engine compartment of the refrigerated container transporting frozen fish.

The ANSA news agency also reported that the drugs were discovered following a detailed inspection of three suspected shipping containers arriving from South America and bound for ports in Italy and Spain.
