“Mysteries and Secrets” of a Plane 17 Years After Its Disappearance

Michigan State Police announced on Wednesday that a group of researchers had found the wreckage of a small plane and the remains of its passenger in Lake Huron, where the plane had crashed 17 years ago.

American media reported that the passenger, whose remains were found, was identified as H. Brook Stover Jr. (56 years old). He lived in Washington and was aboard a plane that had departed from Mackinac Island to a small town in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula in August 2007.

Available information indicates that Stover and the pilot, his fiancée Karen Dodds, were on board a “Socata TB-20 Trinidad” when the plane disappeared.

Dodds’ remains were discovered two months after the accident, east of the Mackinac Bridge, while no trace of the plane or Stover’s body was found at the time, according to Sputnik.

Michigan State Police stated: “In October 2023, Great Lake & Recovery, a private company, resumed efforts to search for the plane. In August 2024, the search team discovered the wreckage near Bois Blanc Island.”

The police added that the remains were found thanks to state police divers, who discovered skeletal fragments. The Forensic Anthropology Center at Northern Michigan University confirmed Stover’s identity using dental records. Stover was the Director of Standards and Safety at the National Electrical Contractors Association.

It is worth noting that Karen Dodds was 52 years old and owned a web design and marketing company in Washington, called “Dodds Design.”
