Private flights under threat?

The hunt for CO2 emitters continues. Some Ecolo members wish to tax flights in private jets. The Federal Minister for Mobility, Ecolo himself, prefers that the subject be dealt with at European level.

Not everyone has liked the success of private flights for more than a year. In Belgium, the Groen party wants to tax these flights at least 3,000 euros per trip. A French member of parliament, Julien Bayou (Europe Ecologie-Les Verts), would even like to ban this type of flights in France, and is considering tabling a bill in the National Assembly in October. Argument: CO2 emissions per passenger are much higher on these flights than on regular flights, and their kerosene is not taxed.
