Saudi Arabia welcomed the US Biden’s backing to Kingdom in defending its sovereignty


On Thursday, state news agency SPA related that Saudi Arabia welcomed the US President Joe Biden’s support to the Kingdom in the defensive of its sovereignty and territory against regional threats.

Indeed, the Saudi statement came in response to Biden promising to continue to support and help Saudi Arabia defend its sovereignty and its territorial integrity and its people in his first foreign policy speech at the Department of State in Washington.

Biden stated that the US would be finishing its support for aggressive operations in Yemen, and added that the war has to end.

Moreover, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said on Thursday that the steps linked to Yemen were discussed with officials in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. He informed reporters at a White House briefing: We are pursuing a policy of no surprises.

Otherwise, Saudi Arabia affirmed its backing to finding a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in Yemen, and also greeting the US support for diplomatic efforts.

It should indicate that the Arab Coalition, directed by Saudi Arabia, interfered in Yemen in 2015 to back the internationally recognized government of Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi against the Iran-backed Houthis.

Furtehrmore, the Kingdom has been targeted with dozens of ballistic missile and drone assaults since the start of 2019, including a destructive attack on Aramco’s facilities in the country’s east that provoked the arrest half the kingdom’s crude production.

On his part, the new US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated last week that there necessary to be an urgent review of the Houthi militia’s recent classification as a terrorist organization.
