Saudi Arabian women could now apply for military positions


Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense declared that men and women in the Kingdom could currently apply for working in the military via their unified admission gateway.

In this context, women would be capable to register for joining the Saudi Arabian Army, Royal Saudi Air Defense, Royal Saudi Navy, Royal Saudi Strategic Missile Force, and Armed Forces Medical Services.

According to the ministry, Saudi Arabian woman could be employed as soldiers, lance corporals, corporals, sergeants, and staff sergeants,

Indeed, this step as a part of the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 initiative to introduce improvements that could progress Saudi Arabian women in many fields.

Moreover, the woman should be between the age of 21 and 40 years old to join the armed forces, and must be 155 centimeters tall or more, and cannot be a government worker. She should also pass admission procedures, having a clean criminal record, and be medically able for service.

Furthermore, Saudi Arabian woman should also have an independent national identity card, having also at least a high school education, and cannot be married to a non-Saudi Arabian citizen.

Whereas, for male citizens who want to join the armed forces, they should be between the ages of 17 and 40 and be a minimum of 160 centimeters tall, and they should also pass admission measures, and have a clean criminal document, and demonstrate that they are medically appropriate for service.
