Southern Transitional Council in Yemen calls for a million-man march on Saturday in Aden and Al-Mukalla

The National Assembly of Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council has called for broad participation in the “Million-Man March for Loyalty and Resilience,” scheduled to take place on Saturday in Aden and Al-Mukalla.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Assembly urged the people of the South, civil society organizations, unions and syndicates, as well as human rights and youth groups, to attend and actively take part in the mass rally.

It stated that the event comes as “a reaffirmation of the Southern people’s right to self-determination and a renewal of support for the Southern political leadership headed by Aidrous Al-Zoubaidi.”

The statement also called on Southern activists and diaspora communities around the world to organize simultaneous demonstrations and vigils, “as an expression of the Southern people’s right to self-determination, a renewal of their support for the Southern political leadership represented by President Aidrous Al-Zoubaidi, and an unequivocal rejection of any partial or evasive solutions targeting the just Southern cause.”

The National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council emphasized that Saturday’s march also represents “a renewed message of steadfastness in tribute to the souls of the martyrs who fell so that the South may remain proud and upright.”

It stressed that “the South will not allow the passage of projects that do not represent it, fail to reflect its aspirations, or are inconsistent with the immense sacrifices and the long struggle of its people.”
