The Green March .. A Moroccan story created by the cohesion of the leadership and the people
On October 16, 1975
The King Hassan II of Morocco declared
the organization of the largest peaceful march in history
to liberate the southern provinces of the Kingdom from Spanish occupation
through his famous speech :
Tomorrow, if God is willing, you will reach one side of your land and you will touch a sand of your sand
The number of Moroccans who participated in the Green March was 350,000 citizens
including 10% women,
with the participation of the delegations of Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Jordan, Qatar, Sultanate of Oman, Sudan, Gabon, Senegal
and the Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference
The volunteers of the march were armed by the Coran and the Moroccan flag
The Spanish occupation opposed the march and considered it as a military march
It moved its naval fleet to Moroccan territorial waters
it declared that it put landmines in large areas of the Sahara
However, the insistence of the Moroccans, make them able to arrive to the Moroccan desert lands
and the Spaniards were obliged to find a solution to the Sahara issue
On November 9, 1975, King Hassan II declared that the Green March had reached its aim
and on February 26, 1976, the Spanish occupation withdrew from the Moroccan Sahara
