Two lovers commit suicide together in Iran after opposing their marriage
Iranian media reported on Monday that a young man and a girl who had been in love for a long time committed suicide.
The two young lovers dumped themselves at the Karun IV dam in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, southwest Iran.
According to the local Tech News website, the young man and girl are residents of the city of Lordegan. They had been in love for a while and decided to get married, but their families objected.
According to local sources, the young man and the girl ended their lives by throwing themselves into the Karun IV Dam.
The site quoted Said Salehi, the governor of the city of Lordegan, as saying that they had thrown themselves into the dam two weeks ago, adding: “At first, it was thought they ran away together.”
Salehi added that the authorities found their bodies bound on Sunday June 13 in Lake Al Sud.
According to an official tally, 5,143 suicides were recorded in Iran in 2019, including 3626 men and 1517 women, compared to 5,000 and 101 cases in 2018.
