UAE continues to provide relief to Syrians… and launches a new campaign to collect donations
An Emirati aid ship carrying 1,000 tons of food and 37,500 food parcels, controlled by the Red Crescent as part of Operation The Gallant Knight 2, arrived in Syria yesterday as part of the efforts of the organization to promote the stage of recovery for the benefit of the brotherly Syrian people.
The Defense Ministry’s joint operations command said the shipment is an extension of on-going UAE aid through an air bridge that has been flowing since last month’s earthquake. The ship is carrying the largest amount of aid ever delivered, and will be distributed in co-ordination with the Syrian Red Crescent to areas affected by the quake, the official WAM news agency reported.
Dr. Hamdan Muslim Al-Mazroui, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Red Crescent Authority, said that the shipment, which was received upon the directives of the representative of the governor of Abu Dhabi in the Al-Dhafra region and the head of the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, comes within the framework of the role played by the United Arab Emirates and its wise leadership to reduce the humanitarian consequences of the earthquake disaster on the Syrian and Turkish arenas.
He said that the UAE Red Crescent Society is continuing to strengthen its response for the benefit of those affected as part of Operation The Gallant Knight 2, launched by the UAE as part of its humanitarian commitment and solidarity responsibility with earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey.
In a related context, the “Bridges of Goodness” campaign was launched today in Dubai, in cooperation with the initiatives of Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, at the Arena hall in the Dubai World Trade Center, to prepare and package 15,000 food parcels for earthquake-affected people in Syria and Turkey.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wrote on his Twitter account yesterday: “The good is the message that the UAE has carried to the world from the good days of the good days…Tomorrow, with the cooperation between the initiatives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International and the UAE Red Crescent, the Bridges of Good campaign will launch to extend a helping hand to brothers and friends in Syria and Turkey, reflecting some of the spirit of human solidarity that pervades our society.”
The UAE is witnessing comprehensive humanitarian efforts to provide relief to those affected by the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey, as part of the “Bridges of Good” campaign organized by the UAE Red Crescent in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
