US sanctions ISIS financial network – Details

The United States has sanctioned a network of five individuals accused of facilitating ISIS funding in Indonesia, Syria, and Turkey.

In a statement released yesterday by Reuters, the Treasury Department accused the group of playing a key role in facilitating the travel of militants to Syria and other areas where ISIS is active and making financial transfers to support the group’s efforts in camps for displaced people in Syria.

The ministry said: “The network raises money in Indonesia and Turkey, some of which have been used to pay for smuggling children from camps and delivering them to ISIS foreign fighters as potential recruits”.

In the same statement, Treasury Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Bryan Nelson said: “As part of the International Coalition to Defeat ISIS, the United States is committed to denying the group the ability to raise and transfer funds through multiple judicial systems”.

The measure targeted Doi Dahlia Susante, Rudy Heryadi, Ari Cardian, Mohamed Dandy, Adijonah and Dini Ramadani, freezing any assets they may have in the United States and generally prohibiting Americans from dealing with them.

The decision coincides with the 16th meeting of the International Coalition to Defeat ISIS Group to Combat ISIS Financing, in which the US, Italy, and Saudi Arabia co-lead the group, which includes nearly 70 countries and international organizations.

The group coordinates efforts against ISIS financial support networks worldwide, and the State Department announced that the United States is committed to working with the international coalition to deny ISIS the ability to raise and transfer funds across multiple jurisdictions.
