Vitamins, minerals, fibres… the kiwi: an essential for autumn, richer in vitamins than orange

Its first advantage is unquestionably its richness in vitamin C. With a single kiwi weighing an average of 110 to 120 g, all of the daily recommended nutritional intake is therefore covered. Thus, the regular consumption of a kiwi represents a simple and convenient solution to guarantee a safe intake of vitamin C.

In addition, among the fruits best able to satisfy our nutritional needs, it is the one with the highest density of nutrients (vitamin B1, B2, B3, B9, provitamin A, calcium, iron and protein). And, icing on the cake, it is low in calories! It can therefore be appreciated by consumers concerned about their diet and their weight.

Rich in antioxidants as well as polyphenols (substances present in wine), it is one of the fruits with the highest antioxidant activity. It is now proven that antioxidants have favorable effects on our health. In particular, they allow the neutralization of free radicals, the accumulation of which causes premature cell aging and can promote cardiovascular pathologies and certain cancers.

The kiwi also contains good amounts of potassium and fiber.

A fruit rich in minerals and fiber

Its caloric addition is moderate, as it provides only 47 kcal per 100 g. This places it at the level of melon, clementine or apricot. Source of energy, its carbohydrates represent about 10% of all its constituents.

The proteins do not exceed 1.1 g per 100 g and the lipids are very scarce (0.6 g per 100 g). These are found mainly in the small seeds present in the pulp. It is the organic acids (whose rate varies from 0.9 to 1.2 g per 100 g) that give the kiwi its characteristic acidulous flavor.

The vitamin content of the kiwi is dominated by vitamin C which reaches the remarkable rate of 80 mg per 100 g. The kiwi contains various minerals (in total, more than 700 mg per 100 g). It is one of the fruits well endowed with potassium (nearly 300 mg per 100 g), thus exceeding the banana. Calcium (27 mg per 100 g) and magnesium (17 mg) levels are relatively high.

The kiwi is full of many trace elements such as iron, copper, zinc and manganese. Rich in fiber, the kiwi therefore remains the best cocktail of vitality there is!
