Washington sends messages to Iran and Hezbollah via Turkey… Details
Amid growing international concerns about the escalating conflict between the Israeli military and Hamas in Gaza, which is extending into a regional war, the United States sent clear and decisive messages to Iran and Hezbollah.
US officials revealed that the administration of President Joe Biden sent messages to both Tehran and Hezbollah through regional partners, including Turkey, stating that the United States is determined to intervene militarily if they launch attacks against Israel.
The officials made it clear that Washington conveyed these messages explicitly, affirming its readiness to militarily intervene against both Hezbollah and Iran and strike them if they attack Israel, according to the New York Times.
The newspaper reported that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned from Baghdad airport late on Sunday, as he was leaving Iraq, about the attacks on US forces and civilian targets in the region. Blinken stated, “The attacks and threats coming from militias affiliated with Iran are absolutely unacceptable. We will do what is necessary to protect our personnel, whether they are military or civilian.”
These warnings came as massive American aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines gathered in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, preparing to protect US military bases in the region and respond to any emergency intervention required by the circumstances.
These messages also came as a continuation of a number of political warnings that have been publicly and officially launched by US officials, with the latest being from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who visited Israel yesterday and then the West Bank and Iraq, where he made his latest warning.
Iran had threatened on several occasions that the fire of war in Gaza could reach the United States and its interests in the region. The Revolutionary Guards have repeatedly threatened to strike America’s interests through what they called the ‘Axis of Resistance’, indicating various Iranian-backed groups, whether in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, or Lebanon, where clashes and confrontations erupted on the border since October 8th between the Lebanese party and Israeli forces.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that the number of casualties has risen to 9,770, including 4,800 children and 2,550 women. It noted that 70% of the casualties from Israeli airstrikes on Gaza are women and children.
On the Israeli side, more than 1,400 people have been killed, including hundreds of soldiers, in addition to around 240 hostages.
