Twenty-seven people survived the crash of an Azerbaijani airline plane on Wednesday in western Kazakhstan while carrying 67 passengers, according to regional medical authorities, as reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

In a statement, the local medical administration of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Health said: “At present, 14 injured individuals have been transferred to the regional hospital,” noting that five of them are in intensive care.
The Azerbaijani plane, an Embraer 190, crashed during a flight from Baku to Grozny, the capital of Chechnya. Onboard were 67 passengers, including 37 Azerbaijani citizens, 16 Russians, 6 Kazakhs, and 3 Kyrgyz nationals.

Russian news agencies reported that the plane diverted its route due to fog in Grozny.
