Madagascar: Several deaths in a premeditated fire

Several people were killed on Friday morning in Anosikely, in Ambolotarakely commune, in the district of Ankazobe, about 100 km west of Antananarivo (Madagascar), the Ministry of National Defense said on Saturday on social media.

The attack took place on Friday around 05:00 local time. Armed people have arrived in the village. They burned houses and shot those who tried to escape, according to local press.

According to the Ministry, this crime was committed by former residents of the Ambolotarakely commune. This isolated village was burned down. Dozens of people died, although security and law enforcement officials tried to save them.

National Defense Minister Richard Rakotonirina and other officials traveled to Ankazobe to conduct an on-site investigation.
