4.8-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes New York and New Jersey
A 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck across New York City, its suburbs, and the state of New Jersey in the United States.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul tweeted on the social media platform, “My team is assessing the impacts and any damages that may have occurred, and we will be updating the public throughout the day.”
The epicenter of the earthquake was near the White House station in New Jersey, about 40 miles west of New York City, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
So far, there have been no reports of damage.
The impact was felt across the Tri-State area, with reports of buildings shaking from New Jersey to Long Island.
