Trump May Attend SpaceX Rocket Launch
The Reuters agency reported that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump might attend a SpaceX rocket launch in Texas, signaling another indication of his close ties with Elon Musk, the billionaire founder and CEO of the company.
The agency also noted that Trump’s transition team did not respond to its request for comment on the president-elect’s plans.
A close friendship has developed between Trump and Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the world’s richest man, who founded SpaceX in 2002. Musk frequently advises Trump and has long been a guest at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach.
Musk was part of the delegation that traveled with Trump from Florida to New York on Saturday to attend a sports event.
The planned launch will be SpaceX’s sixth test flight of the Starship rocket. This rocket represents the company’s next-generation system, which Musk is relying on to achieve his goal of sending humans and cargo to Mars.
NASA also plans to use the Starship vehicle for missions to land humans on the Moon during this decade.
