Eyewitnesses said that Houthi militias have significantly intensified their military aggression on the Al-Hadd Yafe’ front in Lahj, exploiting the critical road that connects the governorate to its neighbor, Al-Bayda.

According to the same sources, Houthi attacks on this vital route on Thursday resulted in the death of a Yemeni woman, Sara Abderabbeh, who was attempting to travel with her son from Al-Zahir district (Al-Bayda) to Al-Hadd Yafe’ (Lahj). Another Houthi attack killed a young girl named Anhar Al-Amari in the village of Al-Sawma’ah in Al-Bayda — further examples of the militia’s ongoing crimes against innocent civilians, including women and children.

Temporary Closure

Sources confirmed that the ongoing Houthi attacks on the Al-Hadd Yafe’ front have led to a temporary closure of this vital corridor, causing traffic jams with dozens of trucks and travelers stranded.

Each day, hundreds of vehicles, including heavy trucks carrying goods and supplies, pass through this road — now considered the most important humanitarian corridor between Aden and Sanaa, alongside the Hayfan route in Taiz governorate.

Previously, the Houthis used improvised explosive devices to blow up several main roads connecting Aden and Sanaa, including the Dhalea–Ibb, Abyan–Al-Bayda, and Shabwa–Al-Bayda routes, effectively cutting off key lifelines through coordinated attacks.

Escalation Against Civilians

At the same time, southern forces reported on Thursday that six civilians were killed by Houthi gunfire and sniper attacks near frontlines in Yafe’, Al-Musaymir (Lahj), Dhalea, and Thara (Abyan).

Southern forces said the Houthi militias “continue to commit horrific crimes against civilians in blatant violation of international humanitarian law and all conventions and norms that prohibit the targeting of women, children, and non-combatants.”

Separately, the Rassd Center for Human Rights and Development in Yemen condemned the Houthi targeting of civilians, especially in Al-Bayda’s battlefronts, where a child, a woman, and an elderly man were recently killed by Houthi snipers.

In its statement, the center described the attacks as “a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights principles,” urging the international community and rights organizations to “shoulder their moral and legal responsibilities regarding the systematic Houthi violations against civilians in Yemen.”
