Al-Jazeera sparks discord among Arab Nations
Through various social platforms and multiple screens, under the name of one entity, Qatar’s Al-Jazeera, which is engaged in the service of terrorism and is focusing its efforts against specific countries, and aims to provoke sedition, disagreements and violence, strike security and stability, and ignite crises continuously from time to time by flouting press and media covenants and ignoring the principles of transparency and credibility in their laws.
“Within a few days, al-Jazeera has fueled controversially worsening crises, aiming for hours to influence the upcoming Libyan elections, to serve the purposes of the Brotherhood and to disrupt security and stability”.
This time, the head of the State Council, Khaled al-Mishri, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, appeared on Al-Jazeera with a public threat to turn Libya into a “bloody hell” if Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar wins the presidential election.
“Haftar will not be president of Libya, even if he is on the corpses of thousands of Libyans”, al-Michri said in an interview on Qatar’s Al-Jazeera TV channel, which supports the Brotherhood.
He also claimed that if Haftar wins the presidential election; the people of Libya in the cities and governorates of the western region will resist that with arms and the country will enter into civil war, despite the wide support for Haftar in the country.
The Brotherhood’s al-Michri claimed: “It has been tailored to the size of Khalifa Haftar”, reflecting the Brotherhood’s orientation, which claims to hope for elections, but in reality clings to control things, and opposes a presidential candidate.
These statements coincided with the announcement by the High National Elections Commission in Libya that the nomination period for the presidential and parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for December 24th, will start on Sunday.
“A few days ago, Al-Jazeera led the larger Arab crisis today, where Saudi Arabia’s blatant abuse, through Lebanese Information Minister George Kordahi, over the war in Yemen, was targeted in a specific manner pre-arranged”.
George Kordahi stirred controversy with his statements about the Yemen war, claiming that “Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are attacking the Yemeni people”, and that the Houthis are practicing “self-defense”, statements that revealed his inclination towards Iran and that they are a beautiful and obedient response to Tehran in exchange for his empowerment from the ministry, in a way that guarantees Iran’s control and its tools in Lebanon.
“The Yemeni war is absurd and must stop”, Kordahi said in a recorded statement on the “People’s Parliament” program, which airs on Qatar’s Al-Jazeera TV channel and enjoys great support from Doha.
He also claimed that “the Houthis are defending themselves against external aggression”, claiming: “It is an attack, not because they are Saudi Arabia or the UAE, but because there has been an attack for eight years now and what you cannot do in two or three years you will not be able to do in eight years”.
Following these statements, several Lebanese popular protests came out to demand the overthrow of Kordahi, while a group of former Lebanese prime ministers called on Information Minister George Kordahi to resign following his statements.
Last Friday, Saudi Arabia announced the recall of the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in the Lebanese Republic for consultations, and the departure of the Lebanese ambassador in the Kingdom within the next 48 hours.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said via its official Twitter account: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Ambassador of the Lebanese Republic to the Kingdom and handed him an official protest note following the offensive statements made by the Lebanese Minister of Information regarding the efforts of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen”.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its regret over the abuse of the kingdom and the countries of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, which is a clear bias towards the Houthi terrorist militia that threatens the security and stability of the region”, the statement said.
It stressed that “Kordahi’s statements are contrary to the most basic political norms and are not in harmony with the historical relations between the two brotherly peoples”. “In view of the potential consequences of these offensive statements on relations between the two countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned HE the Ambassador of the Lebanese Republic to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and handed over an official protest note in this regard”.
The United Arab Emirates also announced last Saturday the withdrawal of its diplomats from Lebanon, in solidarity with Saudi Arabia, in light of the unacceptable approach of some Lebanese officials towards the Kingdom.
The UAE decided to ban its citizens from traveling to Lebanon, while the consular section and visa center at the State Mission to Beirut will continue to operate during the current period.
