The Syrian Ministry of Transport announced the closure of commercial ports in Latakia, Tartous, Arwad Island, and Baniyas. Warnings were issued to exercise caution against strong winds, expected snowfall, and rain caused by the influence of a surface low-pressure system tied to the extension of the Siberian anticyclone, which is expected to bring a wave of dry cold across the country in the coming days.

According to the Meteorological Directorate, the extension of the Siberian anticyclone at the beginning of the winter season is a rare occurrence. It also noted that persistent snowfall had already begun in the mountainous heights of Mount Hermon, and temperatures across the country had dropped by an average of 10 degrees.
