Australia: Dozens of pilot whales stranded on a beach

About 60 to 70 pilot dolphins ran aground on a beach east of Albany, Western Australia.

Images broadcast on Australian media show at least 20 long-fin black pilot dolphins struggling on the sand at Cheynes Beach near Albany, about 400 kilometers southeast of Perth.

Australian whale-beaching experts have come together to decide on a strategy, while the Western Australia Wildlife Service has warned of those who might come forward to help. “The safety of the public and dolphins is our top priority, so we ask that members of the public stay away from the beach,” he said in a statement.
