Birds Cause Egyptian Plane Flight Cancellation in Rwanda
Birds at Kigali Airport in Rwanda caused the cancellation of an Egyptian plane flight bound for Cairo, after birds collided with the aircraft engine as it moved on the runway, according to EgyptAir, on Friday.
According to the airline, “during the takeoff of a flight of a Boeing aircraft from the company from Kigali Airport in Rwanda, bound for Cairo Airport with 116 passengers on board, some birds collided with the aircraft engine as it moved on the runway, prompting the captain to cancel the takeoff and return to the site; to ensure the safety of passengers and the aircraft”.
The company said in a statement that “all passengers were disembarked from the aircraft and taken to hotels in the city of Kigali until the inspection of the aircraft is completed and to ensure that any traces of bird impact on the engine have been eliminated”.
