Bus Accident in Ethiopia: 28 Victims and Several Injured in the South

At least 28 people have died, and 19 others were seriously injured after a bus plunged into a river following a deviation from its course in a region in southern Ethiopia.

The accident occurred in the Wolaita Woreda administrative area, specifically in Kindu Deday, about 400 kilometers from the capital, Addis Ababa.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), local authorities released a statement on Facebook providing details of the tragic incident, noting that the bus veered off the road for reasons yet to be determined, leading to its fall into the river.

So far, there is not enough information regarding the number of passengers on board the bus, or whether there were any other survivors. Authorities have confirmed that search and rescue operations are still underway in an attempt to find survivors or recover the bodies of the victims from the accident site.

They clarified that the accident has so far resulted in 28 deaths, while the 19 injured have been taken to hospitals for treatment. The condition of some of the injured is critical, which could increase the death toll.
