Despite calming efforts, the Houthi summer camps to recruit children continue

Despite the ongoing state of calm mediators are seeking to end the war through a political settlement, Iran’s Houthi militia in Yemen – the country’s arm – continues to set up summer camps to recruit children in governorates it controls, the Yemeni government said.

Information Minister Muammar Al-Eryani said in a statement to Saba News: “The announcement by the Houthi militias of Iran to organize camps to attract and recruit hundreds of thousands of children in areas under their control, under the cover of the summer centers, reveals their true position towards pacification efforts, stopping the war and bringing peace to Yemen.”

“The Houthi militias seek to expel a generation of terrorists who are not only a threat to Yemen, but also a time bomb that threatens regional and international peace and security,” he said.

“The fact that Houthi militias plan to target hundreds of thousands of children through the summer centers and brainwash them with extremist terrorist ideas confirms that they are using peace efforts to buy time and recruit more fighters into their ranks, especially children, as fuel for their next battles, the minister said.”

“The Houthi militias continue to harness the institutions of the state that are under their control, including the educational institution, using the existing state of war and peace to further infiltrate and consolidate control in their areas of presence, impose their ideas on society by force and coercion, target national and Arab identity, and dismantle civil peace and social fabric,” al-Eryani said.

The Yemeni government warned citizens in areas controlled by Houthi militias not to send their children to these suspicious centers. The government learned of tens of thousands of child victims, who were lured by the militias into open fires to die.

It called on the international community, the United Nations, and the UN and US envoys not to stand idly by regarding these Houthi practices, which are contrary to the requirements of truce and confidence-building measures.

The Houthi militias have been opening summer centers in areas under their control, pushing children and young people to the front lines as fuel to ignite their battles against government forces. Meanwhile, Houthi leaders hide in the back lines and run away if the fighting intensifies. Children fall victim to the false mobilization and brainwashing they feed summer centers with sectarian and militia ideas, urging them to fight and rebel against their families.

According to informed local sources, Houthi militias use a method of intimidation and desire to gather school students to their summer centers, or more precisely to their camps, and prepare them for war and encourage them to drop out of school. Success is guaranteed for those who carry weapons and head to the front lines, and support, aid, and food baskets are available when the family accepts to send their son to the Holocaust of Death.
