Erdoğan’s alleged ‘gas’ is burned by opposition statements

The Turkish opposition launched, yesterday evening, a violent attack on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, coinciding with the latter’s claim to discover a new natural gas field.

Earlier on Friday, Erdoğan claimed to have discovered 135 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Masra 1 well belonging to the Black Sea field of Sakarya.

Pro-regime media reported that the alleged discovery raises the gas reserves discovered there to 540 billion cubic meters.

The Greatest Fool

A few hours after Erdoğan’s announcement, Ahmet Davutoğlu attacked the President as “the greatest ignorant and rabbi in Turkey,” accusing him of stirring up anxiety in society when he speaks, unlike presidents anywhere in the world.

Davutoğlu made the remarks during his participation in a regional conference of his party in the western city of Yalova, according to the website of the opposition newspaper Bergun. Al-Ain news agency.

Davutoğlu explained that “when presidents speak anywhere in the world, they speak with the aim of calming society down, but when the president of our republic speaks, the community becomes more concerned.” He added, “Be a little silent.”

“The president couldn’t solve the relationship between interest, inflation and the exchange rate, and Turkey has become caught between the wind of inflation and interest because of the relationship established by President Erdoğan,” he continued. “In the last six months, he sacked 3 governors of the Central Bank, and they were sure that the fourth would see the same thing.”

“Why should we leave Turkey’s fate to someone who is ignorant of the economy? The utility goes up every time he says it’s going to go down, and it also saps our morale. If there is the biggest Rabbinic leader, and the biggest Council of Ministers, it is the Council of Ministers today, and the biggest Rabbi in the history of Turkey is the current President of the Republic.”

Demand Erdoğan step down

For his part, Ali Babacan, Chairman of the Democracy and Progress Party and former Deputy Prime Minister, called for Erdoğan to step down from power, warning that the Turkish nation will continue to suffer while the Justice and Development Government remains in power.

Babacan made the remarks at the opening of a new party headquarters in Yozgat. “The time has come for President Erdoğan to step down,” he said.

He must be ready to hand over his position gradually, or this country will suffer every day, because as the Turkish government continues, this nation is constantly losing,” he said

Babacan added that the problem of poverty in Turkey has reached an advanced stage. “Our citizens are looking for food in garbage and containers. There are suicides because of poverty, we have never known such things before.”

Early election call

The Republican People’s Party’s Spokesman, Faik Öztrak, called on Erdoğan to hold early elections, saying, “This is election time, don’t be afraid of the nation.”

This came in statements by Öztrak during a press conference held on Friday at the headquarters of the Republican People’s Party in the capital Ankara.

“The time has come to bid farewell to this authority, which has betrayed the trust of our pure people,” he said.

“We are fully prepared to open the horizon of our country with new bases, new institutions and new employees,” he said. “The people and citizens are ready to say goodbye to the Erdoğan government, and we are also ready.”

Turkey is in a very difficult economic situation, with a sharp weakening of the local currency and the high cost of production and imports, at a time when the country is suffering from inflation and high poverty rates.

In addition, the local economy and the population are facing more crises amid weakening economic confidence, the decline in the country’s consumer confidence index, and the erosion of citizens deposits due to the fall in the market and purchasing value of the local currency.
