He tries to rip off his parents with a fake bill and ends up in court

A 26-year-old Belgian was put on trial after trying to defraud his own parents. In need of money, he used an unobtrusive technique.

Real scam

The man who was working in the restaurant industry at the time said he had suffered a complicated financial situation during the Covid-19 period, when he devised a technique to try to steal money from his parents.

After he had been out of school for a year, he sent a fake invoice from the university showing the fees for the new academic year. A document artificially modified using his computer, where he put his own account number, instead of the faculty’s. A scam of about 900 euros.

Computer scam accused

But when receiving the bill, the young Belgian’s parents questioned. They then contacted the university to get the full story. So the parents sued their own child for this scam attempt. He is accused of “computer fraud”. In his defense, the man says he has returned to work and has a stable financial situation.

“When you go out, look behind you and tell yourself that you will never come back here again,” the judge rebuked him.
