Yemeni forces shot down a drone belonging to Houthi

Joint Yemeni forces on Monday shot down a drone belonging to Houthi militias in the western heights of the southern province of Taiz.

In a brief statement, the joint forces said that their ground defenses destroyed an attack drone launched by Houthi militias against military and civilian positions in the skies of Mawza district, west of Taiz.

According to the statement, the joint forces intercepted the Houthi plane before reaching its target.

The Yemeni army on Sunday recorded 11 violations of the UN truce on the front lines in the provinces of Hodeida, Taiz, Dhale, Hajjah, al-Jawf, and Marib.

The Yemeni army said that Houthi militias committed 50 violations on the western coast fronts, 25 in Hajjah, 32 in Taiz and Marib, and 4 in al-Jawf and Dhale.

The Houthis used drones rigged with explosives, along with Katyusha rockets and artillery, killing and wounding four Yemeni soldiers, according to the same source.

The internationally recognized Yemeni government says Houthi violations are negative signs that do not encourage the continuation of the truce, which was extended by two more months on June 2.

The Houthis are racing to exploit the humanitarian truce to mobilize fighters, organize their military ranks, and modernize their arsenal by evading a new round of war, according to Yemeni experts.
